Male winner: Teresa Fekensa; 2:43:52
Female winner: Erin Gardiner; 3:01:44
Race day was sunny and fairly breezy. New to the winner’s podium on the men’s side was Teresa Fekensa, from Ethiopia via Toronto. On the women’s side, Erin Gardiner defended her title (and is now a three-time winner) and shaved three minutes off of her 2016 time. Ruslan Kramariuk from Ukraine repeated as the half marathon men’s champion in 1:08:31 and Danielle Thiel of Edmonton was the female half marathon champion in 1:23:55. In the GoodLife Fitness 10 Km, the winners were Jodi Souter of Pleasantdale, SK (39:59) on the women’s side and Erik Widing of Saskatoon (32:55) on the men’s. The Craven SPORT Services 5 Km event is continuing to gain popularity and the participant numbers were increased again; winners were Moktar Said of Saskatoon (16:21) and Courtney Huffsmith of Saskatoon (16.53). Our guest speakers at the pasta dinner were local athletes Jason Warick and Tarrant Crosschild.
Together, coach Warick and 1998 Saskatchewan Marathon champion Crosschild gave an
inspiring presentation, appreciated by all those in attendance.
