Year 41 – 2019

Male marathon winner: David Mutai; 2:22:07 – a new event record
Female marathon winner: Celeste Cross Child; 3:18:58

In what turned out to be ideal weather conditions, a new record in the marathon distance was set.  The 25 year old record held by Bruce Raymer (2:25:03) was broken by three minutes by this year’s winner, 33 year old David Mutai (2:22:07).  On the women’s side, the winner was Celeste Cross Child in 3:18:58.  She was met at the finish line by her husband and previous marathon winner, Tarrant Cross Child.  Runners were pleased to once again be able to cross the newly opened historic Traffic Bridge.  Marc Turmel from Regina was the half marathon men’s champion in 1:15:46 and Brooke MacDonald, last year’s marathon winner, was the female half marathon champion in 1:23:04.  In the GoodLife Fitness 10 Km, the winners were Kaytlyn Criddle (37:11) on the women’s side and Nicolas Jirot repeated in 33:54, on the men’s.  In the Craven SPORT Services 5 Km event, the winners were Moktar Said – the 2017 winner (16:22) and Courtney Moffatt of Saskatoon (19:41).  The children’s Marafun continues to be an important and successful event – there were over 1,600 kids involved this year.
